Strawberry Picking Adventures at Pecan Creek Strawberry Farm

Local Things To Do

Who else has gone strawberry picking this year? We kicked off our picking season in early May with a trip to Pecan Creek Strawberry Farm in Pilot Point, TX! It was such a fun, family-friendly experience—our little guy had a blast, and our sweet girl was just along for the ride, her usual “whatever you say, Mommy” attitude in full effect.

If you’re thinking about heading out to pick fresh strawberries, I have a few helpful tips based on our experience!

Tips for a Successful Strawberry Picking Trip

1. Arrive Early!
Strawberry farms sell out fast! Try to get there about 20-30 minutes before they open at 10 AM to get a good spot in line.

2. Don’t Let the Line Scare You
At first glance, the long lines might seem overwhelming, but don’t be discouraged! We waited about 15 minutes and still found plenty of juicy strawberries left to pick.

3. Budget for the Bucket
If you fill a strawberry picking bucket, it’s about $40. Since I knew this in advance, we decided to share one bucket instead of getting one per person. The empty bucket itself costs about $4, and if you pick just a small amount, you’ll pay based on weight. We ended up with just under a pound (~25 strawberries) for about $6, which was perfect for us. But you do you!

4. Keep Your Bucket for Next Time!
A fun perk—you get to keep your bucket and skip the long line on your next visit! Definitely a win for repeat strawberry picking trips.

5. Check for Extra Openings
Pecan Creek sometimes announces additional picking times in the afternoons or evenings, depending on the weather and availability of fresh strawberries. Keep an eye on their Instagram or Facebook for updates.

6. Fun Extras to Check Out
They sell adorable strawberry-themed lemonade cups, drinks, shirts, hats, and even strawberry plants you can take home and grow yourself! We kept it simple with just the bucket and berries, but if you love a cute souvenir, it’s worth browsing their shop.
